MagicJack "Your number is being identified as a local number when it is a long distance number"

Recently, several people that tried to call me have report ed that they receive a message when trying to call my MagicJack"Your number is being identified as a local number when it is a long distance number".  They have no issues calling my cell phone, only my MagicJack.  Not sure why MagicJack cares how the call was routed, but my cell phone doesn't.

Here is the conversation I had with MagicJack about it:

Jillian: Hello, how may I help you?
Me: Several people have reported to me that when they try to call my MagicJack number they get a message stating that their carrier has routed the call incorrectly and are not being connected to my MagicJack.
Jillian: Your number is being identified as a local number when it is a long distance number
If you are getting a message stating "Your number is being identified as a local number when it is a long distance number", you need to call your long distance carrier and tell them to route your call properly.

Me: You are speaking of their long distance carrier, correct?
Jillian: Please call your phone carrier and let them route the calls properly.
Me: MagicJack is my phone carrier
Me: They had no problems reaching my cell phone. Why does this impact my MagicJack?
Jillian: I mean the phone carrier of the caller that can't call you.
Me: They had no problems reaching my cell phone. Why does this impact my MagicJack?
Jillian: One moment please...
Jillian: Thank you for waiting.
Jillian: Please let your caller call their phone carrier and ask to speak with the translation department.
Me: They had no problems reaching my cell phone. Why does this impact my MagicJack?
Jillian: It is possible that the phone carrier did not route the call properly and restricted the magicJack connection.

I have been going through the same thing for the last three months I couldn't call my house (which has Magicjack) from my cell phone (US Cellular) and months of doinking around batting from one techie to the next....
I deleted the troubled contact # from my cell phone & then dialed it directly. You must delete the contact first!
Good Luck!

I have had the same problem calling my house phone (magicjack) when using my cell phone. This has been going on 3 months now, they both say it isn't them - US Cellular & Magicjack - but after 3 mos. of doinking around from techie to techie and online chatting and coming up more frustrated than before, I have stumbled on a solution.
DELETE THE TROUBLED MAGICJACK CONTACT #, then just dial it directly.
I was AMAZED! It actually called my house for the 1st time in 3 months!!!! I haven't tried re-saving the # yet, but hopefully if I name it differently, it will go smoothly for a while!
Good Luck! I hope it helps!
